Just like those who’ve reached out after the episode, I’ve admired Mitch Peyton for a long time. Having grown up in the same town, and attending the same Alma mater, I witnessed his high school wrestling career rocket to the pinnacle of the sport. Having seen this, I knew we would be able to chat about those accomplishments at great length.
How I Met Mitch Peyton
When I first reached out to Mitch he was apprehensive about doing a podcast episode. I’ll never forget his initial reaction when I asked him to be a guest because it shocked the hell out of me. Having grown up in awe of his tenacity and drive it was a little bit of a shock that someone like him could question what they’ve got to offer. After elaborating on my reasoning for the episode, Mitch was convinced but still questioned it by saying, “I just don’t know the value I have to offer.”
After listening to the episode, you know exactly the value that Mitch has to offer. His ferocity while he was on the mat is now only matched by his chivalrous attitude outside of sanctioned competition. It’s evident the amount of growth attained through this journey when you hear him talking about raising his children and providing quality experiences for the kids in his hometown. Our hometown.
My greatest hope for this episode is that people hear it and take a deep look at themselves. Are you living the life you want to live? What impact are you making? Are you happy?
While a good portion of our world believes that spending their time practicing the “art of not giving a fuck” is the best route, I’m going to surround myself with the multipliers who intend to leave this world better than how they found it.
