How I Met Dr. Colleen Nemmers
It took me mere seconds to realize that Dr. Colleen was an avid animal person. I was at the old veterinary office for the first visit with our new family pet. From the very start you could tell this was Dr. Colleen’s element.
The instant that Dr. Colleen Nemmers walked into the exam room she crouched down by our puppy rubbing, scratching, cuddling, and becoming totally consumed by this new puppy of ours. It was as if you’d put a toddler into a sea of puppies and their automatic “cuteness response” was overstimulated and now Colleen couldn’t help herself.
Dr. Colleen Nemmers Loves Every Creature
Hearing Colleen’s story and her love for every creature since childhood, reminded me how precious it is to dream. Having a daughter of my own who shares the dream and aspirations of a career in veterinary medicine it was important to find someone who could speak to that career. As a father it’s also very important to me to surround my children with good role models, Colleen’s passion for the animals she cares for making her a perfect fit.
Seeing Colleen interact with my dog and the conversations that followed assured me that we could chat over a podcast episode. It was also a glaring reminder of the importance of allowing our children to dream and to dream big. It’s our responsibility to show them that if you work hard, trust your gut, and follow your passion you can be rewarded with a career that makes you happy.
