The first year of the podcast culminated with a social event to show appreciation to those who have helped me make year one of the podcast successful.
Being that the podcast was self-funded, I had to limit the number of guests due to monetary constraints. My hope is that in the future I can make this an open event to give listeners an opportunity to interact with the guests of the show, both past, and present.
Every season-one guest was invited to attend The World With Nate Social. Guests from out of state largely arrived Friday at Waterloo and Cedar Rapids airports, respectively.
Washington, Oregon, Utah, Texas, Florida, and Wisconsin were all represented in Cedar Falls, Iowa for the weekend.
The out-of-state attendees of the event stayed at the Hampton Inn by Hilton Cedar Falls Downtown, which was close to the after-party on Main Street. Boards & Bars’ Jenn Pope provided USA-flag-inspired charcuterie boards for the sustenance, while Kisha’s Desserts & Eatery of the College Square Mall, satisfied every sweet tooth in attendance. All to the amazing tunes and entertainment for the night provided by the band, Overtime.
I almost forgot about the amazing fruit & veggie trays ‘til halfway through the night that David DeMoss scored from Fareway; don’t fret Dave, they nursed us back to health the next day after partying! The Crown Royal flowed with my friends, Frankie and Lindsie, bartending the event and ensuring everyone was well hydrated. It wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing event venue, Hick’s Place, awesomely owned and operated by Jenni and Troy (Hick) Stevenson.
I’m extremely thankful for all of the support I’ve received over the past year.
I never anticipated this turning into a community, and I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish this year. I’m in the beginning stages of planning the next event. So far, we have had a family welcome and a bicycle-ride event. I’m looking at incorporating some music and food at the end of the bike ride. Hopefully, Not Quite Brothers has availability?! I will get the details out soon! As always…..
